Seventeen volunteers from Alief Baptist Church went to the Star of Hope Transitional Living Center for Women and Families located at 6801 Ardmore in Houston, Texas, on April 19, 2011.

We took with us 60 Easter baskets and pails, 750 candy-filled Easter eggs, and 23 Easter prizes for the kids. We had over 60 kids participate in the egg hunt.

We began with prayer and Mary Bailey and Rita Mosby did storytime with the kids before the egg hunt. They told the story of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. It was a blessed-filled day -- the kids enjoyed, the staff and volunteers enjoyed -- but more importantly, the Word was spread about the real reason for Easter, our Risen Saviour!

Pastor Burgs celebrated his 54th birthday on March 3 and the Alief Baptist Church family gave him a grand surprise birthday party. See the highlights from the celebration on March 6 at the Liberty Center in Katy.
