Our beloved Pastor and his family celebrated the life and legacy of his father Donald Burgs Sr. on Friday, May 20, 2011.  Please keep our Pastor Burgs Jr. and his family in your prayers as they now grieve the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and pastor.  Donald Burgs Sr. was in Pastoral Ministry for over 52 years and was Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Houston since 1973.  

Donald Burgs Sr. leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Willie Mae (Butler) Burgs, five children - Rhonda Burgs, Rev. Donald G. Burgs Jr. (Berthinia), Effie E. Dennnison (Bryan), Rev. Anthony F. Burgs (Carolyn), and Rev. DeAndre D. Burgs (Shawn), nine grandchildren - Leigha J. Burgs, Keni A. Burgs, Rori Coryatt (Sean), Chaz Burgs, and Carson Burgs; four great-grandchildren - Nia P. Burgs, Caleb Burgs, Hayden M. Burgs, and Bryce Burgs.  Also left with cherished memories are his mother, Vivian P. Venters; his brother, Kevin L. Venters (Dessie); his baby-sister, Glynell L. Billups (Lester); an aunt-in-law, Juanita Walls; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a ministerial legacy that spans across the United States.
