Pastor Donald Burgs has been preaching since boyhood. A native Texan, Pastor Burgs attended the University of Houston and Houston Baptist University.  Prior to his pastoral leadership at Alief Baptist Church, he was a Pastor at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in Texas City and Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church in Houston. 

In addition to preaching and teaching, Pastor Burgs serves as a member of the Ministerial Advisory Board to the Mayor of the City of Houston, Ministerial Advisory Board to  Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Disaster Relief Advisory Board-Defense of Houston, and Union Baptist Association.  He is also an Advisor to State Senator Rodney Ellis.
 
Pastor Burgs preaches from the Bible with one thing in mind - saving souls.   His commitment to raising up the community's youth to know and serve God is evident by the numerous youth activities and programs offered at Alief Baptist Church.  
 
He is Pastor and husband to First Lady Berthinia Burgs and the father of three children, Leigha, Donald III and Justin.
